Jordan's Tyrant Throne debut strong with their self-financed debut
"Abominations", an EP presenting 4 original tracks and a cover of
Cannibal Corpse's ‘Staring Through the Eyes Of the Dead'. The music
is mostly fast-paced death metal alike to Hate Eternal, Krisiun and
(old) Vital Remains and Suffocation in terms of riffing and
overlapping atmosphere. Vocally, Tyrant Throne isn't the most
interesting outfit and they would benefit from slightly altering
their vocal approach as the current Mortician like vocals take the
material down considerably. Eerie leads and solos are to be found as
well, which in combination with the riffs result in an evil and
brooding atmosphere. All this can be found in the strong opening
track ‘The Chaos Beast'. ‘Slaughter For Salvation' is a more
technical and nervous little number that reminds a lot of Poland's
Decapitated and to a lesser degree Lost Soul mixed with typical NY
death metal styled riffings. ‘Excavation Of Our Rotten Ancestors'
and ‘One Man Kingdom' both sound like a modern, more technical
incarnation of classic NY bands such as Avulsion and Morpheus
Descends. The same sense of gloom, doom and sadistic hatefulness is
to be found within this cut. This home-recorded effort sounds fairly
good for a demo, only could the guitar tone been a little thicker
and the snare drum sound of the drum computer could use an upgrade
as well. Otherwise this is a strong debut EP that comes with fitting
artwork and packaging. Impressive little EP.
